LinkedIn

The first piece of technology I demonstrated was a social networking site known as LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a place to communicate with other professionals, post interesting articles, hold discussions about topics related to one's field, and to search for jobs. I use this site to read articles that interest me. I also follow some other teachers and professionals who post blogs about experiences and information to help other teachers. It is a great site to use to connect with others in the same occupation as yours in a business manner. To join LinkedIn, follow the link http://www.linkedin.com and join today!

iPiccy

iPiccy is a tool that I demonstrated using the Jing software. iPiccy allows a person to create amazing photos with easy to use tools. You can edit pictures, apply photo effects, and add text. I can use iPiccy to enhance pictures of my students to put into a class book. The pictures will be from field trips, special occasions, birthdays, and special visitors. It is a fun and easy way to show creativity and create something awesome! To see a tutorial on iPiccy, view the following screencast: Screencast on iPiccy.

Pinterest

Pinterest is an online pin-board where people can pin ideas of their own as well as share others ideas. This is a great site for teachers to use to get ideas for projects, classroom management techniques, and lesson plan ideas. I have created an Educational board on Pinterest that stores the ideas I have found so far. To view my education pin-board, follow this link: Kelsey's Educational Board.

PicCollage

PicCollage is a "canvas for your life". With this app, a teacher can create collages of pictures taken on school field trips or during special holidays. A Kindergarten teacher could create a collage for each student throughout the year. Pictures could include Halloween costumes, birthdays, Christmas celebrations, field trips, and lost teeth. A teacher could also use PicCollage to create an extension activity for a lesson. This idea can be seen in the third technology project. I constructed a PicCollage for my Educational Psychology class showing the differences in positive and negative reinforcement in a classroom. These two collages can be seen on the right.

Prezi

Prezi is a communication tool that helps you organize, present, and share your ideas in a fun and creative way. More interactive and interesting than a traditional PowerPoint, Prezi allows viewers to be entertained and learn new information. A sample Prezi about Piaget can be seen in the following link: Piaget Prezi.
